About Chicago Veterans Coordinating Committee (CVCC)

The Chicago Veterans Coordinating Committee exists to develop a Chicago-based Veterans Resource Center. The Center will be a place where veterans and military members from throughout Metropolitan Chicago may come to receive multiple services, connect with each other, and benefit from a “one-stop” centralized network of veterans services. The Center will offer a holistic set of services and incorporate the best practices of local institutions and organizations. Through these collective best practices, the Center will have a demonstrable impact on enhancing the success of veterans, and serve as a model which can be replicated nationally.

This generation of Veterans returning from wars has vastly different needs than their predecessors who fought in earlier conflicts. The Center will embrace the best of military culture by creating an environment for gathering, networking, healing, having fun and learning. For some veterans who are navigating civilian life for the first time, adjusting to the civilian and campus culture can be a shock, especially for the Veterans who recently left the service to seek their degree or employment. Without a structured environment, like that of the military, it can be challenging to navigate a new and foreign environment like a college campus or a civilian workplace.

The Center will be veterans’ gathering place for a community of veterans, military members, and their loved ones. This facility will combine educational and vocational support, counseling, historical exhibits about warriors’ service and other activities that promote veterans so that they may be better integrated into their communities. The facility will have everything from behavioral health counseling to performing arts events designed expressly for an audience with military experience. The facility environment will be uplifting and inspiring so that the Veterans will have ownership of the space.

This Center will be a resource for Veterans and Veteran service organizations to access facilities, resources, faculty, and familiar faces. By championing the holistic approach to improving personal and professional outcomes through the delivery of wrap-around services throughout the region, the Center will be the trusted rally point for our community to educate and engage with others to serve those who served. With alignment of resources, we can deliver a greater return on the investment we have made in those who wore the uniform, and those who loved them.

Our leadership team has a combined total of over 200 years of experience in military and Veteran services. We have assembled an outstanding management team consisting of both pre- and post-9/11 Veterans. Our team represents all military services and their families offering wide-ranging contacts and resources with social services, private sector employment, job training, educational advancement, and government agencies.

Our funding activities will be goal oriented, tapping into existing resources and including those looking to create a new program or expand an existing program.

CVCC is currently working with Private, City, County and State of Illinois Veterans Advisory Councils.
